Cataract surgery is one of the two most commonly performed surgeries in the world. Modern cataract surgery is generally performed quickly, with no shot, no patch, no pain, and a quick recovery time for patients.  Once removed, 98.5% of patients receive markedly improved vision. One of the most common patient frustrations is the need to use eye drops for 3-4 weeks after surgery.  For that reason we are evaluating the benefits of a new method of performing cataract surgery called Dropless Cataract Surgery.

This doesn't mean dropless for the surgeon. It means that the surgeon provides some extra levels of intraoperative medication that provides the patient infection-resistance and anti-inflammatory potency.  If the surgeon provides this medication patients won't have to use them after cataract surgery. We're still evaluating the efficacy and safety of this method.  Most of our reports show 75% of the time patients do end up "dropless" after cataract surgery.
